Jim was such a wonderful colleague in the field of Buddhist studies, a great scholar-teacher, a truly dedicated practitioner, but most of all, such a gentle, gentle person. It wasn't just what he said, how he treated others, and what he did, but his gentle compassion radiated from his very person.
